Prescott Guide invites you to experience Hotel St. Michael on historical Whiskey Row in Prescott.
If you are visiting Prescott, Hotel St. Michael in historic downtown Prescott is a must to explore! Prescott Guide invites you to visit the past and present of the Hotel St. Michael on Whiskey Row.

Hotel St. Michael is situated on the corner of Gurley and Montezuma in downtown Prescott, within walking distance of dozens of restaurants, art galleries and boutiques. Bistro St. Michael is the hotel’s on-site restaurant, and boasts a view of the Courthouse Plaza along with excellent cuisine. In addition, St. Michael’s shops are located on the property, where you can indulge in delicious baked goods, purchase souvenirs, or stroll through the galleries of fine art, jewelry, ceramics and collectibles.

The red-brick Hotel St. Michael was built in 1901 on the site of the Burke Hotel, which burned down in July of 1900 along with the other saloons on Whiskey Row. The building was designed with a Victorian character, and a few other interesting characters: 12 caricature-like faces that are framed in decorative circles near the roof line. The faces are rumored to be an unflattering representation of local prominent men of that day, or possibly politicians, along with a couple of stone faces that look like traditional gargoyles.

In 1925, Hotel St. Michael became the site of the first elevator installed in Prescott, the Otis Traction Elevator. Prescott is a charming and friendly town with a very rich and fascinating history. Once the territorial capital of Arizona, Prescott’s wild-west heritage makes it the perfect vacation destination for visitors from all over the world.

Hotel St. Michael is one of over 700 buildings on the National Register of Historic Buildings including the recently restored 500-seat Elks Opera House, that add to the excitement of this historical town. The Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza was named by the American Planning Association as one of the first ten “Great Public Places” in America. More than 130 activities occur annually including concerts, dancing, arts and crafts shows, outdoor movies, and many other special events.
