Prescott Guide shares about Prescott's hiking trails
The Prescott area is well-known and well-loved for its moderate temps, gorgeous mountain views, awe-inspiring granite dells, and treasured lakes. With such a variety you can expect Prescott trails to range from nearly effortless jaunts to serious ascents offering hundred-mile views. Whether you're an avid hiker or new to the sport, Prescott Guide is here to help you sort out Prescott's trails - from easy to more adventurous - and the advantages of both.
Here is a short listing of some of Prescott's more better-known trails starting with the easy:
Badger Springs - under 1 mile
Not expecting hieroglyphs? Well, you should! Enjoy discovering creek-side boulders and hieroglyphs on this easy and family-friendly trail. It follows a short ravine to an endless but beautiful cluster of boulders along the banks of Arizona's Agua Fria River.
Lynx Lake Loop - 3 miles
Nestled into a lushly-forested mountain valley, beautiful Lynx Lake stays pleasantly cool year round. Because the pathway is level and paved halfway around the lake, it makes an easy lakeside hike for everyone.
Watson Lake Loop - 5 miles
Prescott's Granite Dells are not to be missed. You may discover the Dells' hidden coves or even a waterfall on this breathtaking hike.
Willow Lake Loop - 6 miles
You can always see someone out walking along the whispering grasslands of our beautiful Willow Lake with Prescott's infamous dells in the backdrop. Rugged boulders and micro canyons flank the east while the western shore is lined with the lake's namesake.
Groom Creek Loop - 9 miles
You can expect this trail to be a little more strenuous as it winds its way up and then down Spruce Mountain. Once at the top, spend some time to enjoy the sensational 360° views of nearby Granite Mountain, Prescott National Forest, and Chino Valley.
Granite Mountain Trail - 5 miles
You'll find fewer people on the more strenuous trails including this one. Moderate mountain temps and far-reaching views of both Prescott and Chino Valley make this a pretty perfect weekend hiking challenge.
Thumb Butte Loop - 2.5 miles
Thumb Butte can be seen from nearly any point in Prescott. This infamous landmark offers a paved and beautiful trail that ascends to spectacular views.
