Prescott Guide invites you to experience nature at the Highlands Center for Natural History in Prescott
Operating on an 80-acre campus near Lynx Lake through a Special Use Permit with Prescott National Forest, the Highlands Center is a hub for lifelong learning, designed to invite discovery of the wonders of nature through on and off-site programs reaching over 15,000 children and adults a year and supported by contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, and community partners. Among the services offered are:
Adult Programs. The Highlands Center offers classes, workshops, and field trips for community members to help them become more informed stewards of the land. Included are art classes and natural history classes.
Kid and Family Programs. The Highlands Center offers a variety of programs for kids and families to help them discover the wonders of nature and become wise caretakers of the land. Nature Camps are a great way for children of all ages to spend time learning about nature by exploring the Prescott National Forest. These camps are offered in the spring, summer, and fall.
The James Family Discovery Gardens. Come celebrate the beauty and extraordinary biological diversity of the Central Highlands in our accessible Native Botanical Gardens. Experience outdoor learning in a whole new light!
Prescott Hiking Trails. The Highlands Center’s Lynx Creek campus site on South Walker Road features three miles of hiking trails in the Prescott National Forest. Full guides for the two most popular hiking trails are available for free download.
