Prescott Guide invites you to enjoy the lakes of Prescott

Trust Prescott Guide to help you get the most out of camping and fishing in Prescott.
While Prescott is well-known for its legendary cowboy history, it is not always remembered as a great destination for its lakes. Prescott Guide says don't be fooled. Prescott's three main lakes are all within 20 minutes of downtown and all three are perfect for fishing, hiking, kayaking and relaxation. Lynx, Goldwater and Watson Lakes all offer an abundance of recreational activities that more than make up for the prohibition against swimming.

WATSON LAKEWatson Lake is an oasis waiting for those ready to escape Arizona's desert heat. Watson Lake is not only a recreational dream, but the surrounding massive granite boulders make its views and trails mesmerizing for campers and day hikers alike. Even better are Watson Lake's many amenities including:
  • Fishing and cleaning stations
  • Picnic ramadas with tables and grills
  • Restrooms and showers (for campers)
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Children's playground equipment
  • Pet friendly

LYNX LAKE
Nestled 5,500 feet high in the Bradshaw Mountains you'll find Lynx Lake, featuring beautiful water perfect for fishing, motorized boating, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boating. No need to have your own because the Lynx Lake General Store has plenty of rentals to offer. Lakeshore Trail makes it possible for parents with young children and disabled individuals to enjoy the outdoors because of its wheelchair and stroller accessibility. Lynx Lake's many amenities include:
  • A well-known local German restaurant
  • General Store
  • Fishing for rainbow trout, crappie, largemouth bass and catfish
  • Camping
  • Toilets
  • Gold panning along Lynx Creek
  • Pet friendly

GOLDWATER LAKEEven though Goldwater is smaller in size, there are some big ways to enjoy it. Spend the day hiking trails around Goldwater Lake that connect to our own Prescott National Forest. Whether it's picnicking, boating, or hiking you'll find it all at Goldwater Lake. If you're a boater, you'll really enjoy the peace and quiet that Goldwater affords because the lake only permits electric motors. Prescott Outdoors is there during business hours to rent kayaks and canoes if you don't have your own. Goldwater Lake’s many amenities include:
  • Fishing for largemouth bass, rainbow trout, catfish, bluegill, sunfish and crappie
  • Picnic tables and grills
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Sand volleyball court
  • Children’s playground
  • Toilets
  • Pet friendly

If you're looking to spend some enjoyable and relaxing time camping, be sure to visit one or all three of Prescott's nearby great lakes. They may not be the real Great Lakes, but they're pretty great to us.
